Environmental Route Driver (Class 3)

Clean Harbors/Safety-Kleen in Fort McMurray, AB is seeking a Driver whose role will be a hybrid of both our Sales and Service Rep (SSR) and a Clean Pack Chemist position. Both roles are field-based positions that prioritize safety compliance at all levels. They are customer-facing roles responsible for hazardous waste collection, transportation, chemical packing, and on-site environmental services, while also supporting sales growth through upselling, cross-selling, and lead generation.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work. practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
- Follow all Federal, Provincial, and local environmental and transportation regulations (TDG).
- Safely operated company vehicles in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Service & Waste Operations
- Driving straight trucks customer sites to complete daily scheduled waste services, deliveries, and pick-ups in a timely manner.
- Transport waste to company branches and disposal facilities.
- May visit 10-12 customer sites per day.
- Switch out 15- & 30-gallon drums of solutions.
- Service a variety of automotive repair, fleets, and manufacturing type businesses.
- Inspect drums and storage areas for leaks, spills, labeling compliance, and housekeeping standards.
- Collect, segregate, inspect, and package hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
Sales Related Tasks:
- Upselling products/ additional services, generating new sales leads.
- Sell additional products and services into existing accounts.
- Actively prospect for new accounts in assigned route.
- Achieve monthly sales targets.
- Work with route drivers to convert new sales opportunities.
- Prepare and deliver customer quotes.
- Other duties as required.
Documentation & Technical Work
- Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction documentation.
- Understand customer-specific disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements.
- Sample and profile new waste streams that require analytical testing.
- Ensure final project approval prior to shipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be clean shaved to be fitted for a respirator.
- Valid Driver's License: Class 3 license required.
- 3+ years of Class 3 driving experience (manual transmission required).
- Experience driving straight trucks; vacuum truck experience is a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
- Environmental services or hazardous waste experience are highly preferred.
- Familiarity Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems is an asset.
- Physically able to perform job duties.
- Clean-shaven and able to wear a respirator.
- Professional, customer-focused communication skills.
- Education in (Chemistry/Environmental Studies) is a strong asset but not required.
